Concerts:

I went to only one concert (my first concert, in fact) on May 2, 2026, in Neuquén, Argentina. It was a really fun experience because Andrés cracked jokes between songs, and at the end of the show, he started playing around with a red matador's cape, just like one. Something that always characterized his fascination with those duels. Although there was some marijuana smoke in the air, I'm not complaining, it's to be expected. Something funny happened at the end of the song "Alta Suciedad," when someone near me yelled, "Ponete en cuatro, Andrés!" ("Get on all fours, Andrés!"), I stifled a laugh. Also, he was drunk as fuck.

Fav songs and meanings:

My favorite songs are "Output-Input" from the album El Salmón, "Cartas sin marcar" from the album Por Mirarte, "Pasemos a otro Tema" from the album Nadie Sale Vivo De Aquí, "No se puede vivir del amor" from the album El Salmón, and his most famous and legendary song, "Flaca" from the album Alta Suciedad.

Output-Input - El Salmon, 2000

Fav concert - No videoclip.

This song perfectly reflects the rage and anger one feels towards social problems, as in the lines "Better a son of a bitch you know than a fool you don't. It's bad to lie to your children, but worse to give advice without knowing." It was also through this song that I realized Andrés had relationships with transvestites, for some reason, good to know. The chorus "Output, input. Plug to Plug and Jack to Jack." I interpret it as the repetitive cycle of life, taking out and putting in. The same goes for the 'plugs' and 'jacks,' which represent his musical life and social conectors. The line "They don't know shit about The Mothers, or Bozzio, or Fowler, nor God." could be interpreted as him being tired of listening to people who talk just to talk without knowing what they're talking about.

Cartas Sin Marcar - Por Mirarte, 1988

Fav concert - Videoclip.

This song captures the feeling of being alone in life after a disappointment, like when the only person you truly trust lets you down and witnesses your mental breakdown. The verse "I don't feel well, today I lost faith. Luck plays with unmarked cards, it can't be changed" speaks of how life is unfair and completely unpredictable for everyone, and how anything can happen.

Pasemos a Otro Tema - Nadie sale Vivo de Aqui, 1989

Fav concert - No videoclip.

This song can be interpreted as someone who feels they don't deserve the person they're in a relationship with, and after confessing this to them, leaves without forgiving. The verse "Everything is locked away, some things are locked. There are things I'm abandoning forever. And there's an empty place, the one I had planned just for the two of us," expresses everything they wanted to say but couldn't manage to say long before the breakup. The verse "She's so formal that she'll never forgive me" reflects how one person is unattainable for another and that a minor mistake will cost them the relationship.

No se Puede Vivir del Amor - El Salmon DEMO, 1994

Fav concert - Videoclip.

This song speaks of how any kind of rejection makes it harder to find a partner, as shown in the chorus, "You can't live on love, it's so easy to lose your mind." The song also has a touch of humorous irony, as in the line, "Why do we sing love songs, if they sound bad and are never right?" alluding to the fact that this love song lies throughout its lyrics. The same is true of the line, "You can't buy a house with love, my love, it's never too late to ask for forgiveness."

Flaca - Alta Suciedad, 1997

Fav concert - Videoclip (Holy fucking shit)

This song was written a few months after Mónica García cheated on Andrés Calamaro with Charly García, another world-renowned Argentine rock musician (I'll put the full story in "Funny Things"). The line "Although I almost made a mistake and told you little by little 'don't lie to me, don't tell me the truth, don't stay silent, don't raise your voice or ask for forgiveness.'" speaks of how he feels empathy for the situation and how he wants to let her go on her own, realizing what he might have caused her. The following line, "Although I almost confessed that I too have been a companion dog. An ideal dog who learned to bark, and to return home to eat," speaks of how he felt in the relationship, as if he were a companion to someone inexperienced, and how he portrays all their conversations as mundane things a dog might do, as if she saw him as a simple creature. The chorus "In the center of the earth, the roots of love where they were will remain," can be interpreted as the love between the two of them stagnating without growing or blooming for a long time.
